You've stood before paintings that stopped time. The way light spills across silk. A gaze that holds centuries.
WHAT IF THAT PERSON WERE YOU?

WHAT IF THAT PERSON WERE YOU?
Become the Art is a commissioned portrait photography experience where you step into the world of the great painters whose work hangs in museums. Vermeer's luminous light, Sargent's bold elegance, Waterhouse's romantic drama.
Painterly backgrounds. Carefully selected fabrics that drape like brushstrokes. Lighting designed in the style of the Old Masters, every highlight intentional, every shadow crafted to show depth and dimension. We can create a close match to a classic painting or something loosly based on a certain style.
The result is a gallery-scale work of art that is more than decor on your wall; it commands the room. An heirloom meant to be treasured for generations. Inspired by portraits in the greatest collections in the world.

Seen the way a master artist would see you, timeless, worthy of being studied, admired, preserved. Reimagined. Elevated.
Art pieces at museum scale. The kind of piece that stops a conversation the moment someone walks through the door.
Your portrait will be as singular as you are. No two masterworks are ever the same, and the one we create could only ever be yours.

This is for those who seek out experiences that can't be repeated. They know when something has significance.
Become the Art: The Masterwork Session exists for the person who wants more than beautiful photographs. They want to be transformed. To step out of the ordinary and into the kind of portrait that makes people stop mid-conversation and ask, where did you get that?
Is that you? Yes, but you as Vermeer might have painted you. As Sargent might have seen you. Lit and styled with artistry, captured in a way that no phone camera, no chain studio, no casual shoot could ever touch.
And because only three Masterwork Sessions exist each year, the person looking back at you from that canvas will be a photograph like no other in the world.
Much more than a photograph. That's a legacy piece. And it belongs in your collection.
“Stories with photos that words simply fail to tell.”

My path to portraiture started somewhere unexpected: with a brush.
Before I ever picked up a camera, I studied watercolor and sculpture, learning to see the way artists see: chasing light, reading shadow, finding the thing about a subject that makes them worth painting. That's still what I do, just with a camera lens instead of a paintbrush.
I'm Mo Lima, a Certified Professional Photographer and the artist behind my boutique studio in Alpharetta, Georgia. Over the years I've also woven in a background in corporate marketing, which shapes how intentionally I approach every session. Nothing here happens by accident.
My work has been featured on Business RadioX, in CanvasRebel and BoldJourney. I've spent years refining this craft. But the moment I care most about is when a client sees their portrait for the first time and goes quiet or rejoices, because they finally see what everyone else already knew.
That's what I'm here to create for you.
I've always been fascinated with the way the Old Masters used light to turn an ordinary moment into something eternal. That obsession lives in my work. But it wasn't until a longtime client had a very specific request that Become the Art became something real.
She's one of those people who genuinely loves art, not as decoration, but as a language. Her favorite painter is Frederic Leighton, and his Flaming June. That iconic, luminous woman draped in saffron silk, had captured her heart so completely. She knew every detail of it. And one day, she asked me: "Could I become June?"
I said yes before she finished the sentence.
I sourced the materials. I studied the painting: the composition, the symbolism, the way the light wraps around the figure, the stillness of it. I planned every element the way I imagine Leighton himself might have: intentionally, obsessively, with the kind of care that doesn't leave room for shortcuts. Then we created it.
She saw herself inside a masterwork. The woman in the wall-art was HER, in a portrait worthy of a prominent place in her home.
That's when I understood what this could be.
Become the Art: The Masterwork Session was born. I believe that everyone deserves to be seen the way great artists see their subjects. With reverence. With craft. With unique elegance.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
This is the beginning of an experience of a lifetime.
INVESTMENT BEGINS AT
Not at all! During your design consultation, we'll explore the art that moves you. We'll discuss your preferences, whether you have a specific painting in mind or simply know you're drawn to dramatic lighting, romantic styles, or classical elegance. We can create a close match to a classic painting or something loosly based on a certain style. I'll guide you through the process of discovering which artistic style speaks to your story.
From your initial design consultation to receiving your finished canvas, the process typically takes 10-12 weeks. This includes time for session planning, the photo session itself, artistic editing, and creation of your museum-quality artwork.
The Masterwork Sessions feature individuals, couples and small family groupings. Larger groupings can absolutely be incorporated. We'll just adapt the artistic approach accordingly. We'll discuss your vision during the consultation.
Absolutely. Your session includes one 16x20 canvas print, but you can upgrade to larger sizes (up to 40x60), add additional images from your session, or select alternative mediums like fine art prints, acrylics, or metal. We'll discuss all options during your reveal session.
We only accepting 3 Masterwork commissions annually. This experience is intentionally limited to ensure every client receives the time, attention, and artistry they deserve.
Yes! Your design consultation can be conducted virtually, and you'll travel to my Alpharetta studio for the actual session. Many clients find this creates a special destination experience.
Your Masterwork Session typically lasts 2-4 hours, depending on the complexity of your artistic vision. This isn't a rushed experience - we take the time needed to perfect the lighting, styling, and every detail to create your living painting. Some sessions involve multiple setups or costume changes, while others focus on a single iconic look. During your design consultation, we'll discuss timing based on your specific concept.
While most Masterwork Sessions are created in the studio where I have complete control over painterly lighting and backgrounds, outdoor or on-location sessions are possible for the right artistic vision. Some classical paintings were set in gardens, grand estates, or natural landscapes. If that's the direction your masterwork calls for, we can discuss bringing that vision to life. On-location sessions require additional planning, equipment, and production time, so investment varies based on complexity and location. We'll explore all possibilities during your design consultation.
The Masterwork Session begins at $4,000, which includes your design consultation, styling planning and purchase of some items, the photo session, professional editing, reveal session, and one 16x20 fine art canvas. Additional artwork, sizes, materials, and images are available separately.
Schedule your discovery call using the calendar on this page. We'll discuss your vision, answer any questions, and determine if Become the Art is the right experience for you.
